Pallet Perfection

My man and I are nearly finished our coffee table project. Once we have varnished it I will do a post on the construction and finished product. These images are a collection of my inspiration for the project. Our table looks a little different to all of the above, which is the beautiful thing about working with reclaimed wood, each piece has its own say in how it would like to be used.

Comfort is Key

A lounge-room should be comfortable, open, airy and welcoming. Our lounge is the entry point of our home, and being the highest elevated point of the property, overlooks the neighbourhood and several of the Sunshine Coast iconic mountains. I plan to paint all the walls a stark white and bring homeliness in with some cosy furnishings.

Our couch, while only a year or two old, had definitely not aged well. The fabric has pilled and discoloured to the point where it just looks dirty all the time. I am going to attempt a DIY couch cover venture in hope that it will come up looking like the ones in the picture above.

Again I am sorry these photos are all off my computer archive so I can't put a source list. Let me know if you know who they belong to!

The area we will be working with is below. Please excise the dog photo bomb, he certainly isn't camera shy.

Kitchen Inspiration

Been hoarding away pictures of beautiful interiors for a while now and I decided to organise them into folders today. These are some ideas for our kitchen design. The kitchen is fully functional as is, but a little dated (see pictures below). My man and I both have the same 'minimal industrial' preference towards interiors, however I am a little more vintage inspired than he is.  I am planning all white walls the whole house including the kitchen to create a bright-light living space. We are going to construct a recycled timber table and I am hoping for a few vintage chair finds that I can either paint highlight colours, or keep as neutral shades depending on our final furnishing and decorating pallet.

We will eventually knock out part of the dividing wall to the kitchen to create a breakfast bench, over which I plan to hang industrial style pendant lights.

The flooring will be timer (which is a controversial choice for a kitchen) which extends out to the living, dining and hallway area.

Sorry I don't have any photo credits for the above images. If you know where they are from please send me a link.

Dreamy afternoon

The weather has been amazing the last week and I have been blessed with four beautiful days off. I spent last night constructing this dream catcher from drift wood collected from my local beach, one of my nan's old doilys, and some shells Ged and I have accumulated over the years.

Sebastian assisted me in photographing the finished item. The vintage lace dress was picked up on a visit to Melbourne many moons ago, the vest is a sass & bide number, and the neclace an equip sale rack number.

I finally got around to getting the boots resoled before the Big Pineapple Festival, and they are coated in a fresh layer of dancing dust.
