Terrariums are a great way to capture some greenery in the home without the mess of a pot plant, and are a really low maintenance way of keeping a 'garden'. My girlfriend and I got together for a craft date yesterday and got our hands (sorta) dirty making some terrariums.
To Make a Terrarium You will Need:

A separate toilet is a blessing in a three bedroom one bathroom house. For my man and I one bathroom is no problem. However, for resale this can be a huge disadvantage. Most families look for houses with two or more bathrooms to save all the arguments when getting ready in the morning. So having a separate toilet can assist in the traffic direction for larger families.

I found it difficult to find internet inspiration for fence design. It is actually easier to take the dog for a walk and look for inspiration on the street. Perhaps that indicates that the best design for your area usually lyes in your own backyard, not on the net. I love the use of recycled timber and corrugated iron in fencing. The coffee table is awaiting a perspex top. As soon as it is complete I plan to create a terrarium centrepiece using some lab bottles I have purchased. These were some of the ideas that have inspired me. There is something truly magic about growing plants under glass, and even though it's what I do all day at work, I still want to play with them in my spare time!

So this is the result of a few hours of sanding, polishing, and screwing some wheels onto part of our old desk set up. The original crate was a deep mahogany stain so it required some serious sanding. I think it really suits its use as a bedside table as opposed to a storage cube on a desk. DIY projects often seem completely unattainable if you are on a tight timeframe. Fortunately I am one of the lucky ones with plenty of time to spare (thanks to a well paying part time position). However, there are times when I just want to create in a hurry. This morning I decided I need a comfy place on the deck to read my books. We currently have two deck lounging options, one is a science, style and lovehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10226413336934124729noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3595507323147777746.post-91012628017680879822014-02-16T14:44:00.000-08:002014-02-16T15:14:25.504-08:00Pallet Perfection
My man and I are nearly finished our coffee table project. Once we have varnished it I will do a post on the construction and finished product. My office was the very first (and to-date the only) room I fully unpacked. If I didn't have my office in order I wouldn't have been able to spend my spare time writing lovely blog posts for my readers. I spent a year working for Kikki-K, which means I am VERY obsessed with stationary and love having things filed in their right place.

The beautiful hardwood flooring throughout our home was one of the reasons we purchased it. Having timber floors has been a dream of mine after years of mouldy/flea ridden/glass riddled/hairy carpeted rental homes. We gained access to the property before settlement in order to do a bit of a clean up. One of these tasks was to remove the carpet and sand the floors before we moved in.

Living in paradise sees us with quite a lot of house guests! All our friends and family live south so a sub tropical visiting break is often in order. Our new home has three bedrooms. One I have claimed as my study and wardrobe so I can spend my spare time (I only work casual) at home writing and updating my blogs. Bathrooms have never really been a place of joy for me. My parents place ( a ridiculously old cottage) had an itty bitty bathroom with space for a shower and a sink and nothing else. It also had carpet, in a bathroom, YUCK.

Bedrooms have been one of those areas that I have found difficult to find inspiration for. A lounge-room should be comfortable, open, airy and welcoming. Our lounge is the entry point of our home, and being the highest elevated point of the property, overlooks the neighbourhood and several of the Sunshine Coast iconic mountains. I plan to paint all the walls a stark white and bring homeliness in with some cosy furnishings.

Been hoarding away pictures of beautiful interiors for a while now and I decided to organise them into folders today. These are some ideas for our kitchen design. The kitchen is fully functional as is, but a little dated (see pictures below). We were granted access to the property before the settlement date in order to start cleaning. I did a few days worth of wall scrubbing (only to find out that it was pointless later when we did the floor sanding). So the very first thing I did was rip up the REVOLTING carpet in my office.

Sometime around mid 2013 my man and I threw the house buying idea into the ring. We had been living in asbestos rentals on the Sunshine Coast for nearly 7 years and decided that it would be nice to live somewhere that wasn't going to give us cancer.

In January I came across a copy of Grechen Rubins’ ‘The Happiness Project’, which is her personal quest for a year of happiness. Inspired by this wonderful idea I decided to embark upon my own year of happy. My parents had a rough year in 2012 so I sent a copy to my dad, who decided to join me on my project.
